Budget-Friendly Day to Night Picks for Moms On The Go

Budget-Friendly Day to Night Looks for Busy Moms

Now that my kids are back in school, I have to say it's tempting to stay in my yoga pants and comfy tees all day long. But I've been making a concerted effort to get up and ready for the day right along with them -- and by "ready" I'm talking barely a step above yoga pants and tees.

I guess you could could say I have kind of a "mom uniform." My typical daytime look is a tank top, skinny jeans, and my fave flip-flops. My jewelry and makeup are minimal, just a pair of simple earrings and a little blush and colored lip gloss, maybe a swipe of taupe eyeshadow -- just enough to look presentable when running errands. And oh, have I been running errands...

I'd love to say that my days have been relaxing and restful since my kids started back to school on Monday, but the truth is, I've been dashing here and there, picking up groceries and all of those additional school supplies that students don't find out about until the first day back. Not to mention, we're having new windows installed, which means we've been removing curtains and blinds and making sure there's plenty of clearance around each opening for the workers to move freely.

Date night is definitely calling, even if it's just a quick glass of wine at the bistro around the corner! But squeezing the time into our busy after school schedule is another story... Luckily my simple mom uniform quickly and easily transitions to a night out with a few simple accessories!

Nighttime Accessories

My first step is to swap out my flip-flops for a pair of heels. I love my tried and true espadrille wedges, but I've been thinking about adding a pair of nude patent heels to my wardrobe for some time. At just $29.99, these seem like a great option to try this look on a budget.

I also grab a large scarf that can double as a wrap if our destination is a bit chilly. This leopard print pashmina would be an excellent choice -- you'd be surprised at just how versatile animal prints can be! I consider them to be more of a neutral that can go with anything. (See my wedges above. I wear them with everything!)

A pretty necklace and bracelet add some sparkle -- the Miss Zoe by Calinana brand at Walmart is one of my favorites. I bought the necklace and bracelet pictured back in March, and I've received SO many compliments on them! This handcrafted-in-the-USA line is truly stunning.

Covergirl Intensify Me LashBlast Liquid Liner

Finally, I add a brighter lipstick and some eyeliner to draw attention to my eyes! This new Covergirl Intensify Me! LashBlast Liquid Liner is quickly becoming my go-to liner. The wide, flat tip allows me to "stamp" a line super close to my lashline, giving the illusion of thicker lashes without looking heavy.

I also snagged this new La Lacque Lip Color from L'Oreal at Walmart. I went with the bright pink Lacque and Roll shade, which is a fun change of pace from the usual red that many choose for evenings. My lips are pretty full, so I use it more like a liner with a swipe of lip gloss to blend.
