Eggs are an integral part of my family’s diet — we eat them near daily all year long. So during the holiday season when I’m doing extra baking, I always make sure to pick up a few extra cartons so I have plenty on hand for an impromptu batch of cookies… or a spur of the moment batch of scones, like this super simple chocolate chip scone recipe!

Scones are such a lovely change of pace from the usual muffins and waffles my kids request for breakfast, especially when they’re as easy to make as this yummy chocolate chip scone recipe that I found on the American Egg Board website. This is by far the simplest scone recipe I’ve tried yet, and I particularly love that they’re not overly sweet, even with the addition of the chocolate chips.
This chocolate chip scone recipe uses significantly more eggs than other scone recipes I’ve made in the past, which makes for a super tender texture. The dough comes together very quickly, and the scones bake in about 10 minutes, making this a fantastic recipe for holiday breakfasts and brunches. Simple and easy means you have more time to spend relaxing with family and friends instead of slaving away in the kitchen!
You’ll get about 12 scones out of this scone recipe, which is perfect for our family. However, if you need more for a special occasion, be aware that scone recipes typically don’t double well. If you need more than a dozen, simply make more than one single batch.
