Ritz Holiday Appetizer

I feel like the days are just flying by, and I know they're not going to slow down any time soon. First Thanksgiving, now Christmas -- and New Year's will be here in a flash, all with numerous holiday get togethers for family and friends.

So when I spied this simple and easy holiday appetizer on Pinterest, I immediately thought, "Well, there's one thing I can check off my ever-growing holiday to-do list!" Made with Ritz Crackers, Brie cheese, whole berry cranberry sauce, and topped off with a single dried cranberry, these little cranberry Brie bites are perfect for any occasion.

Ritz Crackers Appetizer

Initially it was the idea of Ritz Crackers and Brie cheese that drew me in. When I was a child, one snack I loved above all others was Ritz Crackers spread with cream cheese. The rich, buttery crackers and slightly tart cream cheese just paired together so well...

So I loved that the Brie cheese turned this pairing into a more grownup version of my childhood favorite!

There wasn't a recipe associated with the image I saw (and with the simplicity, I'm not sure they really call for one), but for the sake of easy ingredient shopping and clarity, I drew one up to share with you all!

One thing I would note is that if you're not serving your cranberry Brie bites right away, I recommend draining the cranberry sauce for at least 15 minutes to remove some of the liquid. No one likes soggy Ritz Crackers, right?

  • Ritz Crackers
  • Brie cheese, softened
  • Whole berry cranberry sauce, drained
  • Dried cranberries

  1. Slice the Brie cheese into 1-inch squares. This is easiest to do when the cheese is cold straight from the refrigerator.
  2. Place one square of the Brie cheese on top of each cracker.
  3. Top the cheese with about a teaspoon of the drained whole berry cranberry sauce and a single dried cranberry.

To make them even simpler, you could totally skip the dried cranberries, but I really love the contrast in textures of the crispy Ritz Crackers, creamy Brie and chewy dried cranberries.

If you give these a try at your next holiday gathering, share a picture on Instagram with the hashtags #Unsophisticook and #RitzCrackers. I'd love to see your creations!
