Toothpaste for Foodies // Say hello To A Natural Toothpaste That Delivers

Hello Kids Bubblegum Toothpaste

Let's switch gears just a touch today and talk about... toothpaste. Now wait, before you think I've lost it and move on, here's why I think this is a relevant conversation:

1) As someone who appreciates healthy, delicious food, I'm pretty particular about the taste of anything I ingest. Namely, I'm not a fan of anything that has a chemical, faux taste to it. (Here's looking at you, imitation vanilla extract.) I'm guessing perhaps you feel the same?

2) Just as I look to purchase organic produce and high-quality meat and dairy whenever possible these days, I also have been doing a lot more label reading and research on the ingredients in every product I bring into our home, including toothpaste.

So here's the thing -- finding a natural toothpaste that has a tasty flavor, non-gritty texture and makes my mouth feel clean has been surprisingly difficult. And one that my kids will actually use? Downright impossible. And believe me, we've tried several brands...

Hello Kids Toothpaste

When hello first emailed me back in July, I almost just deleted the email, because well, I figured you guys wouldn't be interested in toothpaste, even if it is as natural as it can be made. But two things in the email caught my eye: a) hello products are made as natural as they can be without dyes, artificial sweeteners, triclosan, microbeads, or parabens and b) they have a Mojito Mint flavor. What?!?

So I figured it wouldn't hurt to at least try some samples. And boy, did they ever send samples -- I think I received one of every hello toothpaste flavor and variety they offer! But that meant that I could try everything freely and give you all my honest opinion, if I thought they were worth of writing about.

Hello Mint Toothpaste

And since we're all here today, you can probably guess what we think of hello products... Seriously, to say they're amazing is an understatement!

We've tried the fluoride variety, the non-fluoride variety, the whitening variety -- hello even offers a fluoride-free, SLS-free (sodium laurel sulfate free) variety -- all in a wide variety of flavors. And each and every one of them is awesome, even according to my kids who are the most persnickety of all.

But the real sticking point is that hello takes their commitment to making the world a friendlier place far beyond just making our mouths feel clean and fresh. The packaging is absolutely gorgeous, and the boxes are made with 100% recycled paper and printed with soy inks. Every product is vegan, cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny Certified, and while the ingredients are globally sourced, each product is made right here in the USA. Their attention to detail is truly evident in every facet of their business.

Hello Mojito Mint Toothpaste

Okay, so we've established my family's love for hello toothpaste. You can probably guess what my personal favorite flavor is, right? Yep, it's the Mojito Mint -- such a fresh and fun pick-me-up in the morning!

However, when it comes to switching my household to a new product for good, there are two more criteria that have to be met. It has to be affordable and easy to purchase. My kids are notorious for waiting until the toothpaste tube is flat as a pancake before telling me it needs replaced, so online ordering is not an option at that point. Luckily, hello products are available at Walmart with prices starting at $3.44 -- very budget friendly! You can also print a coupon to save $2 on hello products right now, so you really have nothing to lose.

Try hello toothpaste for FREE!

In addition to being very generous with samples, hello also tucked 10 FREE hello product coupons into the box they sent. Since I'm pretty much set on toothpaste for awhile, I want to personally send them to 10 lucky Unsophisticook readers so you can try hello toothpaste for yourself!
