Fresh herbs can be easily found in abundance this time of year, but it wasn't too long ago that I was lamenting the lack of basil at the supermarket when I was craving a steaming hot bowl of my homemade Tomato Basil Soup.
It was then that I first discovered Gourmet Garden's organically-grown and gluten-free herbs and spices. I substituted their basil and was amazed at how great my favorite tomato soup tasted. Because these herbs and spices packaged at the peak of freshness (in cute, squeezable tubes I might add) and keep for 3 months in your refrigerator, they're a fantastic way to always have your favorite fresh herbs and spices close at hand.
So as you can imagine, I was really excited when Walmart recently told me that they wanted to send me a selection of Gourmet Garden products to try. These herbs and spices substitute 1:1 for fresh herbs and spices, and I've had a blast testing them out in recipes like my Roasted Parsley and Garlic Fingerling Potatoes.
A personal favorite has been the Gourmet Garden chili pepper paste, which is fantastic stirred into hummus. It's also fabulous in this spicy penne pasta, pairing perfectly with the Gourmet Garden garlic and peppery arugula I picked from my garden for a quick and easy weeknight meal!
We added a little sliced, grilled chicken over the top for protein, but it would also make a great vegetarian meal on its own.
