Tailgating with Pork and Kroger + Giveaway!

Tailgating with Pork and Kroger

What a crazy weekend for college football, huh?!? The Buckeyes had a bye week, but we still watched a number of games throughout the day -- which, of course, required plenty of sustenance.

Since we weren't hosting friends this weekend, we decided to keep our game day eats super simple.

Pork Roast Sale at Kroger

Kroger had an amazing deal on pork shoulder roasts this week ($1.49 per lb.!!!), so I made my Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Sliders. You just can't go wrong with this easy, inexpensive and delicious recipe!

Buffalo Dip Recipe

While I'd normally prepare one of our favorite dip recipes, I decided to pick up a small veggie tray and a fruit tray that was marked 50% off -- score! We rounded it all out with a bag of Kettle Chips and a bag of my favorite Simple Truth Natural Sweet Potato Chips.

This was more than enough food for our large family, all at a fantastic price. In fact, we had enough left over that our busy Monday night meal is taken care of, as well. Love that!

Want to win an awesome tailgating party kit that includes a $100 Kroger gift card? The National Pork Board and Kroger have teamed up to provide me with an awesome #TailgatingWithPork Party Kit to give away to one lucky Unsophistcook reader!

Follow the instructions in the widget below to be entered to win...

Be sure to check your Kroger ad to see which pork cut is on sale in your area this week. Depending on your Kroger region, you'll either still have the $1.49 pork shoulder roast sale or you may have a $1.79 boneless pork loin sale -- great prices on both cuts!

This post is brought to you by the National Pork Board and Kroger. All opinions are 100% mine.

We vary the main course of our gameday menu. A few of our favorites are chili, wings, pizza, pulled pork sandwiches and a new addition your chicken tortilla soup. We also tried your buffalo cheese dip, yum!!! I also put out other stuff to snack on. I make Buckeyes for the holidays so I also put some of them out for gameday. O-H

Pulled pork sandwiches…pork shoulder (in the crockpot; no liquid), one packet of Good Seasons Salad dressing mix (the powdered kind). Turn on the cooker (on Low) just before bed. In the morning, let it cool a bit so that you can remove the meat; it should fall off the bone! Pull the pork and use the cooking liquid that the pork generated (remember, no liquid was added to start!) and bathe the tender, delicious pork in the pool of flavorful broth. Serve on hoagie buns with onions, mustard, bbq sauce, stadium sauce, sweet pickles, spicy pepper rings, or whatever you like with your pork! We take that up to Lambeau field often! Always a big hit!
