Every hostess should have at least one simple, yet elegant, appetizer recipe in her repertoire. You know, one that looks like you slaved over it for hours, when in reality it only takes five minutes to prep.
Sounds like a dream? Then you'll adore this baked Brie appetizer! It truly does only take five minutes to prepare, and it bakes up to perfection in just 20-25 minutes. Let me show you just how easy it is to make...
Separate the crescent roll dough into two square halves, and press the seams together on each to seal. Lay one half on a parchment-covered baking sheet. Set a round of Brie cheese in the center of the dough, and top it with the sliced apples and brown sugar.
Wrap the bottom piece of crescent roll dough up around the cheese, apples and brown sugar. Then lay the second piece of dough over the top, and wrap it around the bottom, tucking it under and pressing to seal it all closed. Brush the dough with an egg wash, and bake. I mean, how easy is that?!
Incidentally, if you're not familiar with Brie cheese, you won't usually find it in the dairy case. I picked mine up at Walmart, and it's located with the specialty cheeses in the deli area. Also, just so you're not surprised when you unwrap it, Brie has a whitish-colored moldy rind that can be left intact and eaten.
Warm, melty Brie cheese, tender apples and sweet brown sugar are wrapped up in buttery, delicious crescent dinner roll dough, a combination that's simply out of this world, especially when spread on your favorite crackers. I prefer Ritz crackers for their buttery flavor, but really any cracker will do!

Have you ever made this without the crescent rolls? Sounds delicious, but I'm looking for to just use the cheese.

Hi Sharon! I haven't made it without the crescent rolls, but I'm sure it would still be delicious. However, I think rather than topping the Brie with the brown sugar and apples and then baking it, I'd sauté the apples in some butter and brown sugar and pour this over the top after baking the Brie.
