Are you trying to kick the high-calorie sugary soda habit? Today I’m sharing my honest thoughts in this Luma Soda review. With just 4 grams of sugar and 25 calories, it’s a healthier alternative to traditional soda!
Like so many other teens on their own for the first time at college, I gained the “freshman 15.” Only for me, it was more like the freshman 20… And those extra pounds? Yeah, they stuck around for the better part of a year after I graduated.
I know now that it was the sugary soft drinks I guzzled all day long that were the main culprit. But it wasn’t until I decided to give soda up for Lent that I realized what an impact it had on my body. My intention at the time was never to kick my soda habit long term, but the difference in my health was almost immediate. I won’t lie — those first few days were hard. I felt lethargic and experienced some killer pounding headaches. Thankfully, after a few days, those side effects subsided, and over the next month I was surprised to find that I lost 10 pounds with little to no effort.
By the time Lent ended, I was no longer craving soda at all. And when I did finally try it again, I dumped the glass out after just a few sips. It was SO incredibly sweet — it didn’t even taste good to me anymore!
These days, aside from my morning coffee, I drink mainly citrus-infused ice water and unsweetened hot tea throughout the day. I don’t get bored, because I switch out my fruits and enjoy trying new varieties of tea, but I do admit there are occasionally times when I crave something with a little carbonation. Not necessarily something sweet, just something that’s carbonated and lightly sweetened, especially on a hot day.
Luma Soda Review
And I’ve finally found that something — Luma Soda! This soda is everything I could want: naturally sweetened with no artificial ingredients or preservatives. I’m not a fan of stevia, so I was very pleased to see that Luma is sweetened with honey and monk fruit. And I was also impressed to note that they use organic non-GMO citric acid. If you’re also concerned about caffeine, you’ll be happy to learn that Luma is caffeine free.
Luma Soda is currently available in four flavors: Blood Orange, Lemon Lime, Cola, and Cherry Cola, and each has just 4 grams of sugar and 25 calories (compared to 40-48 grams of sugar and 150 calories in traditional soda). The Blood Orange is my favorite, followed closely by the Cola. I was a little surprised by that, but the Cola has a slight vanilla flavor to it that’s really pleasing.
