I’ve developed a bit of a smoothie addiction recently… My husband and I have committed to drinking a green smoothie each day this year, and we’ve been pretty consistent with it so far. That’s not to say that I’ve given up my beloved coffee and chai tea, but I do feel like a good green smoothie gives me a completely different kind of mood and energy boost.
Typically the “green” portion of our smoothies comes from spinach. It’s a fairly mild green and blends well without overpowering my favorite fruits. I’m planning to share a few of my favorite green smoothie recipes soon, along with some tips for getting a truly smooth green smoothie (because no one likes to chew their green smoothie!), but in the meantime I wanted to share this amazing mango smoothie that I found in the current Walmart ad!
This mango smoothie is totally packed with protein, and it does have some green in it — though not from spinach. Half of an avocado is incorporated, along with a couple of tablespoons of chia seeds, which give this smoothie an ultra thick and creamy consistency.
Plus, the extra boost of healthy fats, fiber and protein from these two ingredients make this mango smoothie ideal for an on the go breakfast.
In fact, it’s become my go-to breakfast smoothie to fuel my Sunday morning hot yoga workouts. Yes, hot yoga… I can hardly believe it myself, but I tried it once and was hooked. I’ve never sweated so much in my entire life!
I will say I was incredibly sore after the first session, but I’m definitely getting stronger more flexible each week. This mango smoothie keeps me feeling satiated and energized for my hour-long class, without making me feel as if I have a ton of liquid sloshing around in my stomach.
Making this mango smoothie couldn’t be easier. Just measure these six ingredients into your blender: frozen mango, orange juice, almond milk, avocado, unsweetened coconut flakes, and chia seeds. Blend until smooth and then sip!Print
- 1 1/2 cups frozen mango
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1/2 of a small avocado
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened coconut flakes
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- Place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
