This 3-ingredient baked eggs recipe is super simple and delicious! Also known as shirred eggs, baking eggs in the oven is an easy way to cook many individual servings of eggs for a crowd.

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk, half and half, or heavy cream
  • salt and pepper
  • butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Lightly butter 4 ramekins and set them on a baking sheet.
  3. Gently crack one egg into each ramekin, being careful not to break the yolk.
  4. Spoon 1/2 tablespoon milk, half and half, or cream over the top of each egg. Then sprinkle each with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Bake at 325 degrees for 12-14 minutes, until the whites are completely set and the yolks are beginning to thicken but aren't hard. Keep in mind that the eggs will continue to cook even after being removed from the oven.
  6. Remove from oven and serve immediately.

Notes

Storage: shirred eggs can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.

Reheat: to reheat baked eggs, place them on a dish or in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Microwave them for 1-2 minutes depending on the number of eggs you're reheating.
