My kids beg me to make this easy Nutella toaster pastry recipe every weekend! They adore these warm, flaky pastries filled with gooey Nutella hazelnut spread...
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in very cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
Mix together 6 tablespoons of ice cold water and 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. Sprinkle over the flour mixture in 1 tablespoon increments, fluffing with a fork between applications, until the pastry is moist enough to hold together. You may add up to 2 more tablespoons of plain ice cold water if the initial 6 is not enough.
Divide the dough in half and form each half into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least two hours.
For the toaster pastries:
Adjust oven rack to lower-middle position; heat oven to 375℉.
Roll one disk of cold dough out and cut into 8 rectangles.
Lay the rectangles out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Top each rectangle with approximately 1 tablespoon of Nutella.
Roll out the second disk of cold dough out and again cut into 8 rectangles.
Lay one rectangle on top of each Nutella-covered rectangle and seal the edges by pressing them down with the tines of a fork. Prick the top of each pastry with the fork 4-5 times.
Whisk together one egg and 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the egg wash over the top of each pastry.
Bake at 375℉ for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
