If you’re a chips and dip junkie, you’re going to LOVE this out-of-this-world 3-ingredient chip dip recipe… Perfect for tailgating and more!
Chips and dip are classic tailgating fare, and I’ve shared lots of my favorite dip recipes with you already. But I’ve been saving my favorite chip dip recipe for a special occasion, and the Big Game coming up on Sunday seems like a good choice!
I know it’s simple enough to grab a container of dip out of the dairy case, but this chip dip recipe seriously has everything going for it — simple to prepare, creamy with tons of flavor and just plain delicious. And what’s more, it requires just 3 ingredients…
How Do You Make Homemade Chip Dip?
That’s right — just 3 ingredients and 30 seconds is all it takes to get this out of this world chip dip recipe on the table! And yeah, I guess this is more of a semi-homemade chip dip, but it’s still FAR better than regular store bought chip dip.
The secret is Philadelphia Chive & Onion Cream Cheese, which can be found with the cream cheese spreads at Walmart. It’s what gives this chip dip its fresh flavor and creamy texture. I typically let it sit out for about 30 minutes to soften before preparing this dip, but you can also use it right out of the refrigerator with a hand mixer. In general, I just prefer to use my hand mixer, because it makes this chip dip super creamy and light.
To the cream cheese you just need to add your favorite sour cream and about a tablespoon of dry ranch dressing mix. Easy-peasy! Oh, and while developing my own homemade dry ranch dressing mix is on my to-do list, for today’s purposes, I just grabbed a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Dry Ranch Dressing Mix from the salad dressing aisle. By the way, this also comes in a big shaker container now, meaning you’re not stuck with a partial package of dry ranch mix sitting around!
Serve with your favorite brand of potato chips, and watch this delicious chip dip disappear! In fact, you may want to pick up a second container of the cream cheese to make more. If you get the 16-oz. size sour cream, you should have plenty of dry ranch seasoning left for a second batch.
If potato chips and dip aren’t your style, try one of these other amazing dip recipes. I’d tell you my favorite, but they’re ALL my faves…
Perfect Party Dips On The Go
Whatever dip you’re making, if you’re planning to take it on the road, I’d recommend picking up some of these Chinet chip and dip trays. They eliminate having to leave your favorite chip and dip server behind — just toss them when they’re empty! And believe me, your tray WILL be empty if you fill them with this yummy chip dip…
