Making these crispy baked tortilla bowls is incredibly easy, and they're a versatile and fun way to serve a variety of foods. Plain bowls are perfect for taco salads or burrito bowls. Try this easy ground beef and beans recipe or this yummy beef barbacoa recipe in them!
Sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, they're a delicious after-school snack. Just fill them with yogurt and/or fresh fruit. Or they make a tasty dessert bowl when filled with pudding or ice cream.
My kids are crazy for them both ways!

How To Make Tortilla Bowls
To make the basic baked tortilla bowl recipe, all you need is a package of 6-inch flour tortillas and some melted butter. I prefer salted butter, but unsalted will work just fine, too.
- Wrap the tortillas in a damp paper towel. Microwave on high for 30-45 seconds to soften them.
- Brush both sides of each tortilla lightly with melted butter. Lightly is the key for a crispy tortilla bowl! Over saturating the tortillas will cause the bottom of the bowls to be mushy and soggy.
- Form the tortillas into a bowl shape (more on this in a second).
- Bake at 375℉ for 12-15 minutes, until the tortillas are crispy and browning around the edges.
- Immediately transfer the bowls to a wire cooling rack and cool completely before using.
TARA'S TIP
Making A Corn Tortilla Bowl
This method can also be used to make corn tortilla bowls! The only adjustment I recommend is to swap cooking spray for the butter. Mist the softened corn tortillas with cooking spray on both sides, form into bowls, and bake as directed.

Forming Tortilla Bowls Without A Mold
There are two methods you can use for forming the bowls - no specialized bowl molds necessary!
My preferred method is to arranged the buttered tortillas in some small oven-safe glass bowls set on a cookie sheet. Press the tortillas firmly down into the bowls so they fold up and form a cup shape.
Alternatively, you can use the same method with a jumbo muffin tin.

Cinnamon-Sugar Dessert Bowls
If you want to make the sweet cinnamon-sugar tortilla dessert bowls, you simply need to sprinkle both sides of each tortilla with cinnamon and sugar after brushing them with with the melted butter. Then form and bake as directed, until the tortillas are crisp and golden at the edges.
At this point you just need to resist the temptation to eat them all before filling them. Hands off for now, please!

Let the tortilla bowls cool on a wire rack completely before serving. You can make them up to a day ahead - just store them in an airtight container!
