Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

While I adore a batch of fresh, chewy homemade rice krispie treats, sometimes I just want to get the job done. Starting with store bought Rice Krispies Treats makes these cute little ghosts a snap… (crackle, pop)!

Okay, bad pun — but seriously, especially if you’re trying to make these with your kiddos, store bought treats will save you loads of time. They’re already the perfect size and consistency, and it’s super easy to transform them into a ghost-like shape.

How To Make Rice Krispie Treat Ghosts

I simply unwrapped the rice krispie treats, and then rounded off one of the short sides of the bar by pressing the corners in with my fingers and then rolling them smooth on the table.

Next I cut the bottom side off with a fluted round cookie cutter just to give it a little more definition. Of course a glass or can would work well, too!

Then, using a small offset spatula, I covered the whole shape with melted white chocolate. It’s okay to be a bit messy here… I love the added texture, and there’s no such thing as TOO MUCH white chocolate. Yum!

Finally, top each little ghost off with two mini chocolate chip eyes, and then cool completely before serving. Sooooo simple and cute!

Be sure to factor in a bit of extra time if you have little ones assisting you — and believe me, they’re going to be begging to help. Popping them in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes will help the white chocolate set up more quickly, so the littles can get down to eating them ASAP. Which they will be clamoring to do!
